I got a new toy.  Painter x3 and a Wacom tablet.  I have started to play with and learn both.  It is exciting to learn a new way to create art.

Happy New Year to everybody.  I have reflected on 2008 and envisioned the possibilities of 2009 much like I suspect many of you have. To me, 2009 is a year of new beginnings.  I have moved on from one phase of life and now start a new one.  I look forward to the second career about to get underway and the challenges it brings.  New starts, even if they are just brought about by the flip of a calendar page, have always excited me.  The promise, the opportunity, and the hope that a full rich life brings should be enjoyed and today is one of those days that you can, no matter what your circumstance. It has almost been a year, and a lot has gone on and still is.  I've dealt with my Dad passing and all the running back and forth to Chicago during the time his health was turning south.  He was a good man, but not one that I agreed with all of the time.  We had our differences but we also had our loves.  He had introduced me to the love of football, playing it, coaching it, loving my favorite pro team [different from his of course], and to now writing about it for the last four years or better.  That will always be a part of me and every time I see the number 28 [his college] number, I'll smile and think of him.
